THE 8TH ANNUAL RUSSIAN FILM WEEK IN NEW YORK
SEPTEMBER 19 - 24, 2008

The 8th Annual Russian Film Week will open in style with the U.S. premiere of acclaimed Kirill Serebrennikov’s drama Yuriev’s Day (Yuriev Den), at Clearview’s Ziegfeld Theater, 141 West 54th Street in New York. The film follows the story of an opera diva and her student son arriving to a small provincial town in the heart of Russia, her birthplace. Ksenia Rappoport, who plays the main character, was awarded for the best female role at the Russian National Film Festival Kinotavr in Sochi. Yuriev’s Day has been included in the competition section of the 61st International Film Festival in Locarno. Mr. Serebrennikov and Ksenia Rappoport are planning to attend the NY premiere.

Russian Film Week will run from September 19 through September 24, 2008. It has been organized by Interfest (Moscow) and Novoye Russkoye Slovo (New York) with the support of the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture. Cinema lovers will be offered a variety of groundbreaking movies including blockbusters, innovative dramas, comedies and art house films. All the films have English subtitles and will be presented to the public by its stars, directors and producers arriving in New York special for Russian Film Week.
